What it means in detail
Under Swiss employment law (art. 330a CO), employers write benevolent references that often conceal strong negative sentiments behind polite phrasing. Describing a resignation or event with "take note of" signals cold indifference or resentment. Swiss HR interprets this as a clear sign that the employer was glad to see the employee leave.
How to fix it
It is recommended to object in writing to the employer and request that the formulation be replaced with a clearly positive performance clause such as "erledigte die Aufgaben stets zu unserer vollen Zufriedenheit".
