What it means in detail
This formulation is one of the most damaging codes in a Swiss reference. Under the principle of goodwill (art. 330a CO), employers avoid explicit statements of incompetence, but "within the scope of her abilities" indicates that those abilities were grossly inadequate. It equates to a clear fail grade.
How to fix it
It is recommended to submit a written objection to the employer and request that the phrase be replaced with a clearly positive performance clause (e.g. "erledigte die Aufgaben stets zu unserer vollen Zufriedenheit").
